Around 1949 the Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS) at Inyokern flew a series of solid-propellant rockets with the designation LTV-N-4a. The LTV-N-4a was about 4.5 m (15 ft) long and was a test vehicle for large booster applications, particularly for ramjet-powered missiles.
